On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Also, drop by meta, if you have any questions you'd like to address to all the nominees.

To nominate or not to nominate? I'm unhappy with the community crises between 2019-09 and 2020-01. After SEI mismanagement, an already understaffed community team lost tens of years of collective experience, and SEI management has been trying to impose rules on communities against our wishes.

There may be hope. On the Stack Moderators Team, where I'm a member as an Earth Science moderator, moderators appear to have some influence. The new CTO Teresa Dietrich appears to acknowledge problems, and an employee has admitted that meta matters and that community crises exist.

I'm making myself electable. I will moderate if elected, but if SEI betrays our hopes of recovery, I may resign again.

For me speaks my experience moderating on Earth Science and my professional space experience (PhD in Space Technology, working with satellite data daily). Against me speaks that I've not been very active in review queues. Others may be better candidates. Use your best judgement.

Thank you, best regards, Gerrit Holl.

Hello, I'm Machavity and I am running for pro-tem moderator. I held off until the CPO of Stack Overflow announced some changes, which I believe will be positive for the overall SE community.

I'm not the most visible on Space.SE, but I do a lot of non-diamond moderation around SE, and I have done some Space Meta work as well (I tend to like tag organization). I'm mostly like our yellow-eyed friend in this video about space (although building space ships is cool too). I'm far from an Organic Marble or uhoh, however.

I'm running because I can offer some solid moderation experience and I really like the Space.SE community. I'm also hoping to be an advocate when site graduation comes up again (it's a constant topic on Politics.SE, which just barely missed out on that half-graduation). I hope to see Space.SE treated like the mature community it has grown into.

I'm William, and I do humbly nominate myself for the post of moderator at space.SE.

I am reasonably active on Chemistry.SE, and have a few posts on this site as well. I nominate myself, despite being a low-scoring candidate, as I love the site and have been extremely passionate about space exploration since I was a few (<3) years old.

I am hoping to move into my college's aerospace department in my sophomore year and start a career in space exploration research and development.

I believe, with God's help, that I am ready to handle moderation duties, and I do have a bit of review experience across the network.

I will also work to polish the (already great) material on our site and help improve search engine visibility, all to increase traffic and ensure space.SE soon graduates beta to become a fully fledged site.

Additionally (on a distant note), it has been my longstanding aim to advance our civilization in space travel, the field with the largest reach a civilization can ever have.

Stack exchange is a network which always help people who are passionate about subject and wanted to lean as well as teach , and I am one of the case from it, I gain a lot from the site, and during my stay in the site I learn a lot, and I got to know that maintaining this site in healthy condition is very important task with prevention from spam answers and question , and thus work is done by some user who referred as moderator, moderator has more responsibility than any other user on the site including editing , and closing the spam and unrelated question on site, I yuvraj singh nominate my self for stack exchange election 2020,although I do not have reputation in thousand but I can assure everyone that I have shown sensibility and patience during my own close votes,I assure everyone that I will do my best to make the site more better place for student and professional with my regular availability on site, I assure everyone that I will edit and review the meta post too. And do what is best for the site without any discrimination, Yes! If you vote for me I would fulfill my all promise thank you.

This election is over.
