Sep 22, 2021 at 14:51 comment added AtmosphericPrisonEscape @GdD "the topic of many books and doctoral theses" ... what...? Name one reputable source. We barely know how the atmopsheric composition of a few exoplanets, and agriculture on other solar system objects should be extremely challenging. And this is completely ignoring the possibilities of a pre-existing biosphere that would have an enormous competitive advantage over anything you try to plant. As it stands, the question is world-building, and most things asked are addressed in the Blue Mars trilogy by Robinson.

Sep 22, 2021 at 9:11 comment added GdD The first sentence is still very broad, how would we go about planting the first plants has so much to it. Every planet will be different depending on temperature, regolith composition, atmosphere, availability of water and the other building blocks of life, and many other factors. You could ask what those factors are, or narrow it down to a specific set of factors, as it is there's no answer.

Sep 22, 2021 at 8:59 comment added GdD Welcome to the site! Your question is interesting, however as it stands is extremely broad - the topic of many books and doctoral theses - and as so isn't a good fit for the site. You need to edit and narrow it down to one specific question. Breaking it into separate questions asking each one in a different topic is fine.
