Is it possible to create GPS-equivalent system for space travel to guide us in which direction to travel? Assume that if we are able to reach a far-off galaxy millions or billions of light-years away from us, how would we be able to find our way back? Or assume we have dome galaxy hopping, would Milky Way (and Solar System within it) still be identifiable?

$\begingroup$ This is probably a better question for world building, see for specifically worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/180161/… for a magic induced 'find home' question. In current physics all travel and radio(GPS) will be happening at or below the speed of light so 'millions of light years away' means 'millions of years travelling' - if you are doing that finding earth again isn't going to matter since you must be using a world ship anyway. $\endgroup$ – GremlinWranger Nov 21 '20 at 23:03
