There's no need to restrict answers to plasma crystals, one can make normal matter quasicrystals through careful control of temperature and pressure.

So I'd like to simply ask

Question: Have artificial quasicrystals ever been intentionally formed in space, or even attempted? If so, which was the first?

...which excludes incidental and collateral production of artificial quasicrystals (impacts, explosions, nuclear tests for other reasons) as well as discovery of naturally occurring examples.
