Cassini is an unmanned spacecraft that was launched on October 15, 1997, and has been in Saturn's orbit since June 30, 2004. On its way to Saturn, Cassini made flyby maneuvers at Venus, Earth, and the Jupiter system. It has studied Saturn and its natural satellites extensively since 2004 and is still performing its science mission there. The planned end of the mission will be September 15, 2017, when it will enter Saturn's atmosphere.
