For questions about ground quakes on natural celestial bodies and various seismic sources.

Seismology is the scientific study of ground quakes. Ground quakes have various source mechanisms: tectonic, volcanic, impact by cosmic objects such as asteroids or even artificial mechanisms such as explosions and impact by space craft, which all produce elastic waves that propagate through a celestial body's geological components. Those waves are recorded by seismometers and the data is used to characterize ground quakes, such as location, magnitude, etc.
