Sep 3, 2021 at 22:47 comment added fectin @corsiKa if you saw DoD secret stuff, you signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). I don't know what NASA's processes look like, but the processes for classified are quite clear.
Aug 27, 2021 at 21:03 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica Wouldn't the Zeta Reticulans be handled by NRO anyway? Whoops, I don't think I was supposed to say that
Aug 27, 2021 at 19:52 comment added corsiKa @fectin They're CINAs, since there is no word that starts with D, it doesn't make it into the abbreviation.
Aug 27, 2021 at 19:51 comment added corsiKa @OrganicMarble pretty sure my forms said if I crossed the street with my shoelaces untied the FBI was coming after me. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I moved to Canada just in case.
Aug 27, 2021 at 15:04 comment added Dan Is Fiddling By Firelight @GlenYates ... or until you're explicitly informed by someone with the appropriate authority that X has been declassified. (Spoiler alert: This almost never happens.)
Aug 27, 2021 at 13:37 comment added Organic Marble @GremlinWrangler a list of the SMS payload models would just be a list of the shuttle payloads. The models got reused when similar payloads were reflown.
Aug 27, 2021 at 13:15 comment added Glen Yates @Harper-ReinstateMonica Well, I was being a bit cheeky in my comment, however, in general it is best to avoid ever mentioning that you worked on classified programs, especially on the open internet such as this. And, as fectin said, yes they are called NDAs, and when you are given your debriefing when leaving a program, they will kindly remind you that you will remain bound to the NDA - for life!
Aug 27, 2021 at 11:03 comment added fectin @OrganicMarble Actually, they are called NDAs. That's the thing you signed when you were read into a program.

Aug 27, 2021 at 5:58 comment added GremlinWranger @OrganicMarble, I suspect you can only confirm they didn't have any simulated little green men... On a more practical note was the library of visual/physics models for the shuttle mission sim ever publicly listed? Found descriptions of payload bay feature modelling but not payloads. Though I think most sims I've met have had at least one goofball/testing entity in there somewhere so would expect a sanitization pass regardless of security.
Aug 27, 2021 at 1:23 comment added Organic Marble @GlennYates I can also confirm we had no dead Zeta Reticulans. BTW, they aren't called NDAs in the DOD world.
Aug 27, 2021 at 0:23 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica Only on StackExchange would an answer like that get a comment like that. No doubt the contributor already checked with relevant authorities whether the Salyut retrieval mission is discussable. Since this isn't the first time that's been asked....
Aug 26, 2021 at 22:52 comment added Glen Yates Then you should neither confirm nor deny that "work was ever done on this in the Shuttle Mission Simulator (SMS)". I suggest you review the requirements of your lifelong NDA.
