The Mir space station was launched by the Soviet Union/Russians and eventually was a complex of many modules.
The Mir (usually translated as Peace) space station was launched Feb 28, 1986 and was deorbited Mar 23, 2001 to free up resources for the ISS.
Mir had a rear docking port, occupied by the Kvant module. The front end had 5 exposed docking ports that held a variety of modules in different configurations over its lifespan in orbit.
- Kvant 2
- Spectr
- Priroda
- Kristall
To accommodate the Space Shuttle docking, a docking module was attached to the far end of the Kristall module.
